And That’s a Wrap!

Most days, I find myself on-the-go more often than I intend to be, thus making meals a tad more challenging to plan than normal. Harder to make the right choices, harder to eat healthier, and let’s be honest… harder on my bank account too if I end up grabbing something quick while I’m out! Lately, I have found myself throwing food in the infamous tortilla. It’s convenient. It’s easy. It doesn’t take many ingredients to fill. It’s a great size to fit in a plastic bag, wrap in foil, or even beeswax wrap. It can even be eaten while driving, I’m sold! Wraps are also a great way to make meals in advance for a couple of days, and are easy to store in your refrigerator, taking up little space. So, the question becomes… what can we put in this magical wrap?

Inflammation? Let Food Be Thy Medicine.

One of the common nutrition buzz words throughout social media these days is the term “inflammation.” Supplements claiming to be anti-inflammatory, advertising weight loss benefits and joint pain relief have flooded the market in recent years, leading to a lot of discussion on the consequences of inflammation. But what is inflammation, and why is it bad for you?

Personalize Your Plate

We’ve lost touch with the concept of flexibility in an eating plan. I see way too many clients trying to do what their neighbor recommended, what their friends do, what has become popular in social media, or what they saw in a commercial. Everyone has become a nutrition expert and people too easily get away from sound, research-informed nutrition recommendations.

Plants and a Protein

People often seem to get into ruts with snack options and crave something new. Snacks are fantastic for keeping you energized throughout the day…look at them as an opportunity to promote focus and concentration, top off your fuel stores before a workout, and as part of your plan for getting your nutrient needs met.

Nutrition and COVID-19

Unprecedented. This is the word I keep hearing over and over in the media right now. These are the times we’re in. So many are thinking about things like self-care, mental health and preventing disease. With this in mind, what role does nutrition play?
