EDUCATION:

Sunny earned her B.S. degree from Biola University in Physical Education in 2002 and earned her Masters Degree in Nutrition Science at San Jose State University, followed by a year of a dietetic internship with CSU Fresno. Her graduate research focused on the effects of fish oil supplements on cardiovascular disease risk; this research was presented at the annual meetings of both the California Dietetic Association and American Dietetic Association (now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) in 2008.

BIO:

Sunny is Director of Nutrition with Plan Health & Fitness. She also teaches nutrition at Clovis International College Center – part of the State Community College Center District in Clovis, California.

Sunny provides medical nutrition therapy for a variety of diagnoses and specializes in sports nutrition, weight management, and eating disorders. She completed her certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. She also holds a Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management.  In 2021, she was awarded the 2021 Excellence in Private Practice, Business or Communications as a results of her emerging leadership and achievements as a dietitian by the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Sunny has been providing outpatient nutrition counseling since becoming a registered dietitian, starting with Community Medical Center’s former corporate wellness program, C-Fit. She has provided nutrition education through presentations to varying audiences and has made several public appearances for local media, including KSEE 24, FOX 26, and CBS 47. Sunny is also a published writer for various websites, including Livestrong.com and the San Francisco Chronicle’s SFGate.com.
